A Day at the Beach, a prescription for productivity!

David Mezzapelle, Founder GoliathJobs.comBy David Mezzapelle

Taking a break once in awhile is easier said then done. Working hard, being diligent and staying focused are all important. However, overworking and burning out is counter-productive and can impede your health.

Take a look at this happy guy in 1976:

A day at the beach

Sure, he may be 8 years old in this picture but there is no reason why today he can’t spend a day at the beach once in a while.

At the commencement of the GoliathJobs/GoliathJobsOver50 project, I became deeply entrenched in work. This entrenchment lead to time away from family, exercise and health. Fortunately I knew enough to stop “burning the candle on both ends” and resume a balanced life.

I exercise daily, take time for my family, eat well, etc. I turn off the laptop and go to sleep by 11pm at the latest. If more people found the same work-life balance, I am certain that heart attacks, heart disease and other illnesses would be reduced. Stress is a silent killer and serves no good purpose.

So whether I am 8 or 80 I can still live that picture above.
