STAMFORD, Conn. June 20, 2008 — David Mezzapelle, Founder & Director of Marketing at GoliathJobs, has been appointed to the Board of The WorkPlace, Inc. The WorkPlace serves as Connecticut’s regional workforce development council and has a national profile.
Joseph M. Carbone (President & CEO), along with Mayor Dan Malloy of Stamford and other state officials, felt that Mezzapelle was a natural fit for this position. “David’s entrepreneurial and innovative spirit, community-minded values and past success make him a clear choice for our board. His vision of the employment sector parallels our mission. He brings fresh powerful ideas that will help to shape our continued innovation in preparing people for careers and strengthening the region’s competitiveness into the future,” said Mr. Carbone.
Mission,
The mission of The WorkPlace is to develop a well educated, well trained, and self-sufficient workforce that can compete in the changing global marketplace. Essential to our mission is the creation of a seamless, coordinated system of education, training and employment that is customer centered and easily accessible; meets the needs both of employers for employable people and of persons who face barriers to the kind of employment that provides economic self-sufficiency; has a high level of commitment and collaboration from business, education, government and community agencies including economic development, employment and training, and human services; and has defined goals and performance standards. Mezzapelle has significant experience in all these areas.
Planning and Coordination,
Every few years, The WorkPlace works with a wide scope of business leaders, local officials and other stakeholders to develop a workforce development plan in which Connecticut’s employment needs and interests are identified and addressed. In addition, The WorkPlace reviews the plans of state departments and the proposals of local agencies seeking state funds to ensure that activities are consistent with the region’s workforce development plan.
Mezzapelle will continue to serve as Director of Marketing at GoliathJobs and GoliathJobsOver50.
