STAMFORD, CT.  David Mezzapelle, founder and director of GoliathJobs.com and GoliathJobsOver50.com, has offered Mark Hughes a contract position of company spokesperson.  Mark Hughes is the author of “BUZZMARKETING - how to get people to talk about your stuff.”  Mr. Hughes is currently the CEO of The Buzzmarketing Agency in Swarthmore Pennslyvania.   

The position entails speaking and appearing in various forms of media including television, print and web. In addition, the position involves a tour of campuses throughout the US and Canada to promote GoliathJobs.com as well as to educate marketing students on “Buzzmarketing” (the concept pioneered by Mr. Hughes).

The term “Buzz Marketing,” and the famous story about Mark Hughes and his incredible journey at half.com, is an important element of our organization. Mark’s book, “BUZZMARKETING - get people to talk about your stuff,” is required reading at GoliathJobs.com.

The significance of this goes back to the well known fact that word-of-mouth is more powerful then traditional advertising. This has pros and cons. Fortunately the cons don’t exist if you provide quality products, services and customer service. Always be honest with your users and keep them abreast of important information. Full disclosure and honesty are synonymous in my opinion. You do not want bad word-of-mouth.

GoliathJobs.com and GoliathJobsOver50.com are free services. All our users have full use of the sites for finding a job or finding a job candidate. We have to provide the best service and user experience we can. In turn, we stress to our users to please tell a friend. Mark Hughes’s book constantly reinforces that a great experience will provide you with “buzz currency.” Most people will spend that currency by telling others about the great experience. We see that daily and truly believe the theory is accurate.

I proudly admit it, I am an avid user of Facebook. I recently graduated from URI. As a result, many of my friends are scattered throughout the country. Facebook allows us to communicate and keep abreast of each others lives. One of the best features that separates Facebook from the other social networking sites is it’s SIMPLICITY. We plan to officially launch GoliathJobs.com within the next 2 weeks. We look forward to helping students land jobs, internships and careers throughout the US & Canada. We also look forward to recruiting interns to become part of the GoliathJobs team.

GoliathJobs.com is interested in hiring marketing interns throughout the US and Canada. Their roles include working as an on-campus intern to represent our organization to students, faculty and administration. Interns are also encouraged to work closely with local corporations and nonprofits. Tasks include assisting our staff with on/off campus events (i.e. blogging, career fairs, lectures, focus groups, comedy shows, career tailgate events, admin training and more). A GoliathJobs internship is not only flexible within your schedule, but also a great way to meet new people and practice innovative & fun marketing strategies.

Working at GoliathJobs.com has been a great experience. I am living proof that being an intern during college can pave the path to a great career.

I had some fun internships during my 4 years at University of Rhode Island. These include Wenner Media (Rollingstone Magazine, Men’s Journal, US Weekly) and GoliathJobs.com. GoliathJobs has been especially great because my roles have entailed working with colleges, students and alumni throughout the US and Canada. I was thrilled when I was offered to stay on full-time at GoliathJobs.com after I graduated.

“Internship” is a word that is often used to encompass employment while attending school and/or in the summer. Most of the time it implies receiving college credit, in lieu of pay, while gaining real-life experience during college.

It is essential to understand that any work experience, paid or unpaid, is important. It gives the student an edge over other students when applying for that full-time job and also in the event of applying to graduate school. I was a marketing major at URI and knew that marketing would probably be the focus of my career. But marketing is a huge, vast industry. My internships helped to point me in the direction of a marketing career I found most appealing!

GoliathJobs, through it’s GoliathJobs.com Foundation, is helping campus and off-campus nonprofits raise money for their causes while having fun.

The GoliathJobs.com Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to education & employment. The Foundation will raise money through various events and fundraisers.  Those funds will then be distributed to eligible nonprofits.  GoliathJobs will also contribute to nonprofits through fun incentive programs with students & alumni. 

Web-a-thons, comedy shows, concerts, dinners, outings, tail-gate parties and lectures are all part of the events that The GoliathJobs.com Foundation is hosting on and off-campuses throughout the US. Proceeds from these events will also be distributed to the applicable nonprofits.

The early 2008 GoliathJobs.com Foundation tour will include the stand-up comedy of David Martin. David has donated his time and act to participate in this innovative fund raising concept. His comedy has been seen and heard at venues throughout the US.

During these years, 1990 through 2007, we tapped into a market that was full of opportunity. Our comprehensive internship program helped to staff our company and create buzz across the industry. Students virally spread the word about our program to other students. We realized that Goliath Technology was a small part of something much bigger; we had to head down that path.

Connecting students and employers through schools is clearly a win-win for everyone. In addition to growing our company year after year, primarily built on this model, I dreamed of creating another organization that brings together students and other employers.

In early 2006 we started developing GoliathJobs.com. We ran focus groups, studied the various job boards, wrote prototype web applications, and met with students, colleges and employers throughout the US & Canada. We got the ball rolling on GoliathJobs.com and knew our experience and knowledge of this market would all come together in this project. I had two requirements, the site had to be “Free” and it had to be “Simple.” I was confident that we would have plenty of traffic. We could always build marketing services based on our demographic and traffic pattern that would yield enough revenue to cover operating costs. I was not worried. And I always assert, in all areas of life, that things should be simple.

 The Goliath Team

It is now summer 2007 and GoliathJobs is well on the way to revolutionizing the employment industry. I recently sold Goliath Technology. I am now completely focused on GoliathJobs and building the dream like I mentioned above. We are almost there and plan to launch this September. GoliathJobs.com is completely free and will bring together students, alumni, schools and employers like no other job board or recruiter. Our marketing services will embrace, not distract, our users.

Our splash page is live at http://www.goliathjobs.com. We encourage everyone to sign-up for launch notification and to use our site. Students, alumni and employers that do not have a hiring need are also encouraged to sign-up to take advantage of our ancillary services. Our simple profile will allow users to enjoy the benefits of “myDiscounts” and to also be notified of focus groups in their area.
